Let’s Clean up your home for a good start New Year!

日本文化

Do you like tiding? Do you like to clean your room?

As the year comes to a close, Japan has a unique culture. It is called “osouji” (大掃除), which literally translates to “big cleaning.” This tradition, deeply rooted in Japanese history and spirituality, involves a thorough cleaning of homes, offices, and public spaces in preparation for the New Year.

What is “Osouji”?

Some people knows “Spring-cleaning” as a big cleaning. “Osouji” is similar with this but “osouji” is not only physical cleaning. Japanese people are believed to clean is the mind and soul. It’s an opportunity for reflection on the past year and mental preparation for the new one.

As you know the new year is one of the most important holidays for Japanese. We celebrate new year with family for wishing their happiness and health for new year.

I would like you to introduce “Osouji check list”. I hope this information is helpful to you!
